Koenraad Hofman
Koenraad Hofman studied double bass and chamber music at the Brussels Conservatory. He was solo bassist with the Amsterdam Sinfonietta under Lev Markiz and Peter Oundjian from 1996 to 2003 and also held the same position in the European Union Chamber Orchestra until 2007. Koenraad has been principal double bass in the Symphony Orchestra of Flanders from 2004. He taught double bass at the Conservatory of Ghent from 2015 to 2019, at which time he transferred to the Royal Conservatory of Brussels; he now teaches chamber music as well. Koenraad Hofman performs all over the world and collaborates with the most important Belgian symphony orchestras, including the Symphony Orchestra of La Monnaie and the Brussels Philharmonic; he is also a welcome guest with the SchoĢnberg Ensemble, the Nieuw Ensemble, Philharmonie ZuidNederland, the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam. Koenraad Hofman succeeded Toon Fret as artistic co-ordinator of Oxalys in 2009.
